Shmuel's Perspective

Drawing-Shmuel

These are additional episodes that show Smuel's perspective:

“’You will finish polishing all these glasses ,’ said Lieutenant Kotler in a very quiet voice now, so quiet that Bruno almost couldn’t hear him. It was as if all his anger had just changed into something else. Not quite the opposite, but something unexpected and dreadful. ‘And then I will come to collect you and show you what happens to boys who steal. This is understood, yes?’
Lieutenant Kotler brought Shmuel back to the camp. He punished him and told him that he must not steal. Shmuel has wounds and a black eye. When his father saw him, he was shocked.
“What happened with you?”, asked the father.
“I had to polish glasses in the house and a friend betrayed me,” Shmuel answered.
”A friend?”
“Yes, his name is Bruno, I meet him every day at the fence, he comes and gives me food.” “But my son, that aren’t friends outside the fence.”, the father said in a loud voice.
“I realised that I can’t trust them. I don’t know if he is a real friend. I’m disappointed with him.”, Shmuel answered
.”Now you have to believe me one thing. Don’t trust someone outside the camp. That are all enemies and they want to kill us.”

‘‘‘Why are there so many people on that side of the fence?’ he asked. ‘ And what are you all doing there?’’’. Shmuel couldn’t answer. Silence. After a couple of minutes Bruno remembered that it was late. He went home. Shmuel has to go home too.
In the evening Shmuel’s father came home too. ‘ What did you do today? ‘,Papa asked.
‘Nothin Papa,’ answered Shmuel. ‘ I was at the fence and sat there,’ he added.
‘ And there was a boy today there called Bruno. His birthday is on the same day as mine.’
‘ You talked with a boy from outside ?’ Papa asked. ‘ How could you do?’, he added.
‘But Papa I didn’t do something wrong.’ he defended himself. ‘ It was probably the son of the new commandant, they punish you when they catch you while you talk to him, Papa warned his son.
‘Papa he wants to be an explorer when he gets an adult .’ he said.
‘ Don’t tell me something about Bruno, Shmuel’, Papa gets angry.
‘Now close this discussion and don’t talk to him again,’ Papa said, ‘Did you understand me?’ Papa added.
‘ Yes Papa.’ Shmuel answered.
The following days Shmuel doesn’t talk to Papa..

You did a good job and it is interessting too. It is easy to understand. The father is very strict in the second text, this is cool. Alltogether it is very cool and interessting to read the dialogues.
